I've said it repeatedly here; I've said it to my friends and even my parents at this point, the only thing making 2020 slightly less of a hellscape is the incredible number of fantastic metal releases this year has seen. It's as if the universe knows we all need something to channel our collective rage into.
The best part is that there have even been a handful of GREAT records in with all the good. Maybe even some all-timers, but at the very least things I know I'll find in my rotation for the foreseeable future.
Among the release on that, shortlist of GREAT metal releases in 2020 is Primeval, the latest from UK death metallers Venom Prison. In my opinion, there isn't a wasted or lackluster track on either of the band's first two releases, Animus and Samsara. With Primeval, they've managed to keep that impressive streak going. After a solid week of playing the record on repeat, it feels as though Primeval might even emerge to be my favorite of their releases so far.
Like the Necrot record a few weeks ago, Primeval doesn't seem to be a release that too many of my metal loving friends and colleagues have slept on but on the off chance you haven't spent any time with Primeval, it was frankly too great not to give it some love here on HMVP.
I'll leave you with the music video for one of my personal favorites. Have a good weekend, and hey, if you like horror and heavy metal and you don't have Halloween plans consider joining us for the Frightening Ass Film Fest 10. There's more info over at FAFF.festivee.com
